Well... Delayed Again - Restart on Friday Sept 29

 Peers,

--- Update ---

A-1 plans to complete the chip seal on Friday Sept 29, with clean-up and fog sealing on Monday Oct 2nd.   We do not have any more precise times.  We appreciate your patience

---------

A-1 did get started today, everything is staged, materials and crew all on site and up to the Tee,  but luck didn't show.

The chip spreader had another mechanical failure, and it was too risky to attempt to chip seal with the fault.

We are working with the County and A-1 to get a new date,  A-1 is working to get a mechanic up to mountain to fix the equipment.

We will post updates as they come in.

Chip Seal work to start Wed Sept 27

Hello Storm Mountain,

We have updates from the County,  it sounds like AI has been able to address the mechanical breakdown and squeeze us back into their work schedule.

A-1 will start work either tomorrow, Wednesday Sept 27.

A-1 may be moving in material and equipment on Tuesday Afternoon.

Work Overview:

We have upcoming work on the Access Road: a new layer of chip seal will be applied.  The work will take 2-3 days to complete.

The chip seal work will impact our commutes as portions of the road will be down to one lane. Where the Access Road is narrow, the road may be temporarily closed for safety while crews work the narrow areas. The contractor is authorized by the county to only permit local residents to travel on the Access Road during the first day of work.

The county is reporting the typically delay is should be less than 5 minutes, but could be longer depending on working conditions

We have asked the contractor to avoid closing the Access Road during major commute times, specifically school bus pick up and drop off times.

VERY IMPORTANT: The chip seal requires nearly 24 hours to fully cure. While we will be allowed to drive on the chip seal before it has fully cured, it is not advised. If possible, please avoid unnecessary travel on the Access Road on the first day of work. Not only is the freshly applied chip seal not great for your vehicle, it is also not great for the surface of the road.  The chip seal will last longer if we all try to avoid unnecessary travel on it during the first 24 hours of curing.

We realize the Access Road is our only path on and off the mountain, and we all have commitments off the mountain, so the Access Road will not be closed during the cure time, but we ask that you plan accordingly and avoid unnecessary trips on the Access Road if possible. The road will be open for any emergency services if they are required.

We will send additional information regarding the exact date and times as soon as we have confirmation from the county.

New Dates for chip seal work announced - ON HOLD

Update:  Due to mechanical issues chip-seal work is ON-HOLD until repairs are completed

The County has informed us that A1 Chip Seal will provide updated dates once equipment repairs are complete

Per the County, the greatest risk of travel delays will be on the first day of work,  but they could happen through out the 3 day estimated project duration

Delays should be around 5 minutes typically, but could extend longer if deemed necessary for worker safety.   Please drive with care,  this will help ensure of the safety of everyone, and hopeful avoid any extended closures .

As previously stated, its recommended we limit our trips for the first 24 hours,  this will extend the life of the chip seal.

Thank you,
Storm Mountain PID

Upcoming Chipseal Work

**UPDATE**

The chipseal work has been postponed due to rain in the forecast next week.  An alternate date has not been scheduled yet.  We will keep the community updated.  Thank you.

Hello Storm Mountain,

We have upcoming work on the Access Road: a new layer of chip seal will be applied. Date TBD. The work will take 2-3 days to complete, with the majority of the work completed on the first day.

The first day of chip seal work will impact our commutes as portions of the road will be down to one lane. Where the Access Road is narrow, the road may be temporarily closed for safety while crews work the narrow areas. The contractor is authorized by the county to only permit local residents to travel on the Access Road during the first day of work.

We have asked the contractor to avoid closing the Access Road during major commute times, specifically school bus pick up and drop off times. Wait times could be 15 – 60 minutes

We will send additional information regarding the exact date and times as soon as we have confirmation from the county.
